Entrance fee
N$150 per adult per day (foreign visitors), N$50 per vehicle per day. Children under 16 free. Pay at Okaukuejo (south gate) or Namutoni (east gate) — not at the gate itself.
Best time to visit
Dry season, May–October, peaks in September–October when animals concentrate at waterholes. Early evening is especially good for rhino sightings. November–April (green season) is quieter but best for birding.
Getting around
Well-maintained gravel roads connect the three main camps — Okaukuejo, Halali, Namutoni. A standard 2WD is fine on the main routes; no special permit needed beyond the daily entrance fee.
Where to stay
Camps inside the park (Okaukuejo, Halali, Namutoni) put you at the floodlit waterholes after dark — the single best wildlife-viewing advantage in Etosha. Book well ahead in dry season.

Famous floodlit waterhole — the best spot in the park for after-dark black rhino sightings.
Halali — Moringa waterhole
Centrally located, floodlit, walkable from camp at any hour. Draws elephant, rhino, leopard, giraffe and zebra well into the night.
Namutoni — King Nehale
Beside the historic whitewashed fort at Namutoni, overlooking the eastern plains, also floodlit at night.
